I was thinking this morning about Thanksgiving; “What am I thankful for?”
If you are seeing this, I am thankful for you. As I pray each day, the first things I thank God for are the people in my life; my wife, my sons and daughter-in-laws, my grandchildren, my extended family, my friends and coworkers, my employers and employees, and my customers too!
I thought about how each of us are created so uniquely and how God placed you in my life at the time He did and in the way He did for a reason. We don’t all think the same but just imagine how boring life would be if we were all the same and agreed on everything. We are all unique and special in our own ways.
I thought about how precious and fragile life can be. Each of us has a history and if even one thing was different, we might not be. My wife’s family lived through two world wars that ravaged Poland. Her mother was an orphan raised by distant relatives. What if she hadn’t made it? My grandfather was the victim of an accident related to unexploded WWII ordnance stored near his home in Sicily. What if that had happened to him before my mom was born? My dad landed in Normandy on D-day +7. What if he had landed on D-Day? I might not have been! This list can go on and on.
We have so much to thank God for even before we begin thinking about it. So let’s really enjoy this Thanksgiving and remember Who it is we really should be thanking. Surely we should thank our family and friends for all they do and all they mean, but remember to thank God most importantly for the fact that you are here at all first!
